It's been over a twelvemonth since I read the last novella installment of Julie Garwood'south The Claybornes of Rose Loma series, so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get it done!

It'south been over a yr since I read the last novella installment of Julie Garwood'southward The Claybornes of Rose Hill series, so I decided information technology was time to seize with teeth the bullet and get it done!

Come up the Spring is Cole Clayborne's story, who I barbarous in love with in the earlier books. I've been dying to read this, merely reviews and comments from friends and other readers had me concerned that it might non measure up, which is why I waited then long. I had hoped that perchance if I put some time betwixt my last reading and this ane, Cole might stand a fighting gamble, because For the Roses totally swept me off my feet and became an all fourth dimension favorite feel good read. So aye, it'due south pretty difficult to follow in those footsteps. I'd like to say that fourth dimension away and the sometime "absenteeism makes the heart grow fonder" adage was truthful, just that's non the example. I won't go into a lot of details nigh why I feel this way, but I volition bear upon on some of my thoughts about the things I loved and didn't dearest about this book.

This was a actually sugariness story, and incredibly lamentable, likewise.

Cole – in the previous books he was larger than life. He had such a potent presence, and this charisma about him that had me virtually drooling every time his name was mentioned. I didn't see that in this book. To me, he was much more reserved, almost a watered downwards Cole Clayborne. He was nonetheless funny and I enjoyed him, but I take to be honest and say he's not the Cole I remembered or was looking forward to revisiting.

Daniel Ryan – Finally we get to meet this The states Federal Marshall who has been the bane of Cole'south existence ever since he lifted a compass off of Mama Rose that was a gift meant for Cole. What's that, y'all say!? A Federal Marshall picking some poor adult female'due south pocket? Yes, that's exactly what happened, and the story behind it and his reasons for it were pretty funny.

Now, despite my earlier comments, I do want to make it articulate that this was a actually sweetness story. I enjoyed the romance, the mystery and the characters. It'due south definitely worth reading to wrap up the series, it just didn't have that magic that I've come to look from a Julie Garwood historical, and I'grand giving it a 3.5/5 stars.

I retrieve this might've been my least liked Julie Garwood. Hey, it supposed to happen sooner or later on.

The plot with the Blackwater gang was interesting though (they reminded me of the Van Der Lind gang) and I wish the book would but eliminate the whole Daniel and Grace stuff to make way for this plot, because their story was really nonsense, they brought nothing to the volume. Gahhhhh

P.S. (view spoiler)[And am I the just one who thought Daniel and Cole was related and the book would be most this newfound relationship? (hibernate spoiler)]

2.five stars. I'thousand rounding up only because I love Julie Garwood in full general... but this book has to be 1 of the worst she's e'er written! The storyline was just apparently lazy in terms of romance. There are two couples that somewhen get together: Cole & Jessica and Daniel & Grace. C&J know each other for about 3 minutes earlier they are both declaring their love. Pfft. Right.

D&G are a piddling more than complicated simply it'south likewise essentially love at first sight with them. Daniel is a widower who loved and lost his wife and daughter and he vows to never love again. Then he turns around and changes his heed most 10 pages later. I'm sad, but mayhap having Daniel find dearest over again shouldn't have been a part of the story? I felt his love for his married woman in the way that he talked most her. It was much stronger than what he felt for Grace. If anything, Grace was a case of animalism. Daniel calling his feelings for Grace "love" felt like a bad joke.

I actually did like the mystery behind the bank robbers and the witness to the crime. Unfortunately, even that part was a little weak since it fabricated no sense why the two Marshalls didn't attempt harder to extract the truth from their witnesses. They never even confronted the women!! I was merely SMH so difficult, I probably gave myself this headache I at present have.

I'm sad this series concluded on such a low note. There needed to be more time spent with the other Claybornes in this book! The family was sadly missing from all but the first book in the series.

Safe; both heroines virgins.

Re-read.

Wonderful wrap up and ending to a terrific series. I just loved it.

Years ago, my mom told me to read this series. She loved information technology. But, I wasn't interested in "western historicals," then I ignored her recommendation. Aye, mom, y'all were correct and I loved the entire series. Information technology was fabulous. Better late than never. ;)

I am definitely a Garwood fan, simply this one didn't work for me. There'south as well much plot for a book of this length and everything ends up being underdeveloped. If a couple characters have a conversation, every line of the conversation is written out. The reader rarely has to extrapolate on an idea; it's all spelled out explicitly.
